St. Armands Circle Has Been Swapping Addresses. Here's Who Sits Where Before Holiday Night of Lights

Walk south from the Circle's center along South Boulevard of the Presidents and count the doors. At 22 is Nonno Umberto, an Italian seafood and steakhouse that opened in late December 2025. At 28, three renovated storefronts hold Le Shop, Acadia Jewels Fine Jewelry & Design and Chocolate Emporium. All three opened between November 2025 and this past summer. At 40 is Flambo, a Trinidadian restaurant that turns one year old this month.

That's five new names along a single stretch of a single spoke. None of them sits in a new building. St. Armands came back from Helene and Milton by refilling the storefronts it already had, and the people behind those doors are mostly different from two years ago. If you still picture the Circle as it was in 2024, a good part of that picture now leads to the wrong door.

The Block That Turned Over

The busiest change is on South Boulevard of the Presidents, and the history of each storefront explains why.

Number 22 was Le Colonne for more than 25 years. The Italian restaurant opened in 1998, and owner Umberto Salustri decided to close it after the 2024 hurricanes. His son, Simone Salustri, started renovating the property in September 2025 with his wife, Amber Mayner, and named the new place Nonno Umberto. Nonno is Italian for grandfather. The 300-seat room has a coastal update now, and bread and dessert are made in-house. Mayner told Your Observer that the whole bronzino, which the chef debones, the dry-aged meat and the shrimp cocktail are the biggest sellers, and that shrimp carpaccio was just added to the menu.

Number 28 shows the slow part of the recovery. According to Your Observer's June report, Helene and Milton badly damaged the property, and its owner spent the next two years renovating it completely. Le Shop opened there last November and Acadia Jewels followed in January. Chocolate Emporium leased the last of the three units and held its soft opening at the end of June. Owners Kevin and Ruth Schreiner make their chocolate and caramel in-house, so customers can ask for flavor combinations, such as a dark chocolate version of the peanut butter cups. If you live on Anna Maria Island, you may already know the name. Their original shop is at 216C Pine Ave.

Number 40 belongs to Flambo, which co-owner Anthony Logan runs with his son, Kevin Ramlochan. The restaurant soft-opened in October 2025 and celebrated its grand opening that November. "When you sit down at Flambo, you are treated to the world in one plate," Logan told Your Observer. He was talking about Trinidad's mix of Spanish, French, African, British, Chinese and Indian influences. His three top sellers are butter chicken, the crispy Flambo red snapper and Trini drunken rice noodles.

The John Ringling Swap

On the other side of the Circle, the shuffle runs in a chain, and one move set off the next.

For nearly 30 years, Tommy Bahama occupied 300 John Ringling Blvd. After damage in the 2024 storm season, the brand moved to 465 John Ringling Blvd., into the space that used to be the restaurant Shore. Its combined restaurant and retail store held soft-reopening events Sept. 23 and 24, 2025, followed by a grand reopening on Nov. 5, 2025.

That freed up 300 John Ringling, the address Phelan Family Brands picked for Pinchers on the Circle. Pinchers is a Florida seafood restaurant from Naples-based Phelan Family Brands, and the 200-seat St. Armands location is the brand's 11th on the Gulf Coast. Lakewood Ranch residents already have one on Main Street. Rachel Burns, executive director of the St. Armands Circle Association, told Your Observer that Florida seafood is one of the things visitors ask for most. In her words, they want "that relaxed, upscale vibe where you're dressed up, but you're still wearing your flip-flops."

One storefront move changed two addresses, and the restaurant you knew at the old spot is now part of a different block.

North Boulevard, and the Doors That Closed

The north spoke has seen turnover of its own, in fewer storefronts.

Speaks Clam Bar at 29 N. Boulevard of the Presidents closed on March 15, 2026, after more than seven years. In a farewell statement reported by Your Observer, Hi Hospitality Group thanked guests and said the restaurant had weathered "red tide, the pandemic, tropical storms, and hurricanes that brought water inside our walls." Speaks in Lakewood Ranch is still open.

Four doors over, at 7 N. Boulevard of the Presidents, St. Armands Jewelers has replaced Jewelry by Cole. New owner Mia Tohar Eylon plans to offer custom jewelry work and repairs, Your Observer reported in June.

Here's how the addresses have changed hands:

Address Earlier Latest change
22 S. Boulevard of the Presidents Le Colonne, since 1998 Nonno Umberto, opened December 2025
28 S. Boulevard of the Presidents Heavily damaged by Helene and Milton Renovated, now Le Shop, Acadia Jewels and Chocolate Emporium
300 John Ringling Blvd. Tommy Bahama, nearly 30 years Pinchers, from Phelan Family Brands
465 John Ringling Blvd. Shore Tommy Bahama, grand reopening Nov. 5, 2025
7 N. Boulevard of the Presidents Jewelry by Cole St. Armands Jewelers
29 N. Boulevard of the Presidents Speaks Clam Bar Speaks closed March 15, 2026

Through all of this, Columbia has stayed put. It opened its Cuban-Spanish restaurant on the Circle in 1959, and it still anchors a dining district of more than a dozen restaurants. Burns has also said a coffee and dessert shop is on the way.

The Evening Clock Changed, Too

The new tenants are mostly dinner and after-dinner businesses, and the city changed the rules for that part of the day. On June 1, 2026, the City of Sarasota started enforcing paid parking at its garages and surface lots 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Paid on-street spaces are now enforced from 8 a.m. to midnight every day. The City Commission voted on May 4 to extend the hours instead of raising hourly fees, and it added $5 to most citation amounts, according to Your Observer.

For a dinner at Nonno Umberto or Flambo, here's how the St. Armands Parking Garage at 57 North Adams Drive works:

  • First hour: free once you register your license plate on the app or at the meter
  • After that: $2.00 for hours one through two, then $1.00 for each additional hour
  • Entry: gateless, so you pay when you arrive, and back-in parking isn't allowed
  • Capacity: 480 cars plus 23 spaces in the surface lot next door, with four EV chargers on level 2

The city keeps parking free on 10 holidays, plus the day before Thanksgiving and the days before and after Christmas. Rates and rules can change, so check the City of Sarasota garage page and the posted signs before you park.

Three Dates That Put the New Map to Work

The Circle's fall and winter calendar sends crowds straight past the storefronts that changed.

  1. St. Armands Circle Art Festival & Sidewalk Sale, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14 and 15, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival fills St. Armands Circle Park and South Boulevard of the Presidents, which is the same block where Nonno Umberto, the three new shops at 28 and Flambo now stand.
  2. 48th Annual Holiday Night of Lights, Friday, Dec. 4, 5:30 to 8 p.m. The St. Armands Circle Association hosts it. The event ends early enough to leave time for dinner, and on a Friday the garage enforces paid parking all evening.
  3. 22nd Annual Porsches in the Park, Saturday, Dec. 12, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cars park in St. Armands Circle Park, and the show wraps up right around lunch.

The Association's calendar also lists Exotic Cars on the Circle on a new date, Jan. 16, 2027. For more about island life beyond the Circle, see our Gulf Coast Barrier Islands guide. If you're weighing a condo on Lido against one downtown, our Downtown Sarasota vs. Lido comparison covers that.

If you own on Lido Key, St. Armands or Longboat Key, the Circle's comeback is part of your home's story too. Restaurants, shops and events within walking distance come up in every conversation we have with island buyers.
